Join Diverse Verse as we celebrate Poetry Month 2022!

Diverse Verse began as a dream… and over the course of the year, we’ve grown, carefully and slowly, into a small community of poets and educators who are dedicated to creating a high-quality resource that will remain supportive of all who write and teach and love poems for years to come.

We plan to celebrate poetry month 2022 (which is also our 1st birthday celebration) by shining a spotlight on some highly respected ground-breaking poets who self-identify with underrepresented and marginalized communities.

Join us for an IG Live Chat at 7:00 p.m. EST on Thursday April 21st with Aida Salazar and Padma Venkatraman as they unveil our plans (@diverseverse) and …

Challenge yourself (and your friends / students / writing group) to create a poem a day for one wonderful week!

We'll be providing daily poetry-writing prompts (on twitter and on IG) inspired by 7 poets about whom our intern, Avalon Felice Lee, has created a series of posts, starting with the awe-inspiring achievements of Jacqueline Woodson, and continuing with the tremendous contributions of Janet Wong, Carole Boston Weatherford, Linda Sue Park, onto the vast legacy of accomplishments by Nikki Grimes, Margarita Engle, and Joseph Bruchac.

Each day, we’ll send a prompt via @diverseverse on twitter and ig - and you’ll post your poems as replies to our prompts, using the hashtag #DiverseVerse.

All who send in a poem, and/or sign-up for our newsletter on www.diverseverse.com will be automatically entered to win a copy of a book of poems by one of these authors.

We'll wrap-up our celebration on 4/29 with a live drawing for this #giveaway during a Twitter Chat at 7:00 p.m. EST (@diverseverse) with Aida Salazar and Edna Moran.
